Pigmentation of corals is now known to be built upon GFP-like proteins. Amino-Vital is a concentrate of these pigment primers. It was originally thought by science that these pigments were only manufactured in high-light environments and deposited only ABOVE the zooxanthellae to protect them from UV light.
It has now been proven that these pigments enhance the availability of photosynthetic light under shade conditions by depositing them BELOW the zooxanthellae as well. Simply put, a concentration of these pigments, as found in Amino-Vital, can provide more colorful corals with less light. If more light is applied, more colorful pigments and additional UV protection will be available to the corals.
